Gavin Wingate Bowie
Gavin Wingate Bowie. AIA, ASID, LEED AP, is Principal and co-founder of Wingate Hughes with over 17 years of architectural and interior design experience. Gavin is responsible for the tempo and high-level administration of the office, and arranges the communication between clients and design teams. His strategic guidance and studio leadership direct Wingate Hughes’ impeccable work, and he maximizes value for clients by ensuring the firm’s extraordinary designs are both achievable and affordable. Gavin leads the charge with Wingate Hughes’ relationship-driven design philosophy and prompts design teams to uphold the firm’s high standards for great, original work.
As the Architect of Record for all Wingate Hughes projects, Gavin oversees all engineering and technical sub-consultants and ensure that construction documents are legal, accurate and reflective of the design intent. His experience includes master planning; architectural, interior, and graphic design; and business, project, and marketing management. Gavin is a highly skilled communicator specializing in audience-specific graphic, written, and verbal communications and team leadership.
Gavin is a registered architect and licensed interior designer. Prior to founding Wingate Hughes, he served as a Tenant Coordinator for the largest privately held developer in Washington, D.C. In Gavin’s earlier career, he held project architect positions at three notable interiors, architecture, and planning firms.

Gavin Hughes Daniels, AIA, IIDA, is a Principal and Co-founder of Wingate Hughes. Each day, Gavin pushes the firm to be better, more creative, and never forget that everything is about the relationship with the client. Gavin is the outspoken innovator of the office and the driving force behind Wingate Hughes’ culture of building client relationships and pushing beyond the status quo. He leads by example, creating designs that help clients rethink the way they see, use, and experience their spaces.
Gavin has more than 15 years of architecture, design and construction experience, specializing in commercial interior architecture, and he excels at bringing vision to reality. He listens carefully to understand every client so their goals are achieved regardless of project complexity or cost. Gavin is passionate about improving people’s lives by improving their work environments, and he grasps the big picture while treating the smallest design details with importance. Gavin’s skills span architecture, creative problem solving, design, consultant coordination, budget management, negotiation, client relationships, marketing, and construction administration.
Prior to co-founding Wingate Hughes, Gavin was a project manager and senior project designer at three D.C.-located architecture firms over seven years. Gavin currently chairs the board of directors for the March of Dimes Capital Area chapter. He is also involved with the SED Center, a preschool and adult education center primarily serving the Latino community.

Becky Duvall, IIDA, NCIDQ, LEED Green Associate, is a Studio Director for Wingate Hughes’ Light Box design studio. She has over 15 years of experience in asset transformation and upgrades for interior design projects, including fitness centers, conference facilities, restroom renovations, and lobby renovations and improvements in the hospitality, global non-profit, and architectural industries. In addition to her corporate design expertise, Becky excels at furniture and finishes selection, space planning, programming, and test fits. Her role as Studio Director for Lightbox at Wingate Hughes entails a multitude of responsibilities ranging from design and team management to client relations and construction administration.
Becky’s natural affinity for interior design leads her to approach each project with fresh eyes and excitement regardless of the size or scale of the space. She enjoys designing the building blocks that comprise a building or office and advocates for the small spaces to make work life enjoyable, memorable, and productive. Becky appreciates that the parts make the whole, and this inspires her to create breathtaking lobbies, motivating fitness centers, spaces that encourage conversation, and inspiring work alcoves. Becky embraces the details, and she ensures that every project within an office is a flawless and seamless experience that enhances the space.
Prior to joining Wingate Hughes, Becky held several Project Manager positions at large-scale architectural firms in the D.C. area, along with space planning for the International Monetary Fund and designing for Marriot International.

Kelly Nichols, Associate IIDA and LEED Green Associate, is a Senior Project Designer at Wingate Hughes. With over eight years of interior design experience, Kelly takes the lead in the conceptualization and design process. From the initial development of design concept through finish selection and construction documentation, maintaining client relationships remains Kelly’s commitment. She is experienced in assessing and evaluating situations and developing new design strategies, ensuring only the best ideas and methods are implemented. Her backgrounds in commercial interiors, government work and retail trained Kelly to listen to her clients’ needs and help her create standout details in her designs.
Kelly’s role as Senior Project Designer entails a multitude of responsibilities working on projects ranging in size from 1,500 square feet to 1.3 million square feet. She adapts easily to each client project regardless of size, scope, or level of direction. Kelly excels at reinvigorating spaces within corporate guidelines, as proven through her large financial institution work. Furthermore, Wingate Hughes’ relationship-driven design philosophy is paramount to her and she is vested in nurturing and maintaining both new and long-standing client relationships.
Prior to Wingate Hughes, Kelly was a designer for an international architecture firm in Virginia. In her free time, she is a competitive Olympic weightlifter on the DC weightlifting team and enjoys being a French bulldog mom. As a Maryland native, Kelly can also be found attending an Orioles game every now and then.

Kerri Bouie, NCIDQ and Senior Project Designer at Wingate Hughes, is an accomplished interior designer with extensive experience in the hospitality and health services industries. She has designed large-scale hospitality, commercial, and residential projects in the Washington, D.C., Portland, Ore., and Savannah, Ga. regions.
As a Staff Designer at Wingate Hughes, Kerri works on projects from concept to completion. Her national design experience lends an appreciation for regional culture to Kerri’s processes, partnership style, and work. Kerri’s passion for art can be noted in her care for design details.
Prior to working at Wingate Hughes, Kerri was a freelance interior designer in the Washington, D.C. area and served as an interior designer for a global hotel corporation, focusing on renovation projects. In her free time, Kerri volunteers as an events coordinator for the Initiative for Public Art Reston, located in neighboring Virginia.

Tulsi Patel is a Senior Project Designer for Wingate Hughes’ Light Box design studio. She is a passionate interior designer with extensive experience in space planning, 3-D modeling, rendering, furniture design, residential design, hospitality design, retail, and commercial banking. Additionally, Tulsi has experience in conception presentation, FF&E selection, shop drawing review, project coordination, and site implementation.
Tulsi’s hospitality design experience includes working and collaborating on a broad range of three-, four-, and five-star hospitality property renovations such as the W Hotel, Marriott, Hilton, William Patterson University, Harrah’s Casino, Pasha Night Club, Czarnowski, Lasting Impressions Event Rental, and Artisans Restaurant. She provides the highest quality design standards using her background with ADA code guidelines, while surpassing the client’s budget and lead time expectations in execution and service. Additionally, developing and maintaining a strong working relationship between her clients and project team is the basis for her continued success.
In Tulsi’s free time, she freelances for a designer based in Chicago on high-end residential projects. Prior to joining Wingate Hughes, Tulsi focused on furniture design and also worked for an award-winning provider of architecture and interior design solutions in New York.

Liza Plunkett, Project Designer at Wingate Hughes, is an accomplished designer with extensive experience in space planning, interior design, rendering, and construction administration. As a key design team member, Liza places her clients’ goals and well-being at the forefront of her skilled, artfully-created designs. Additionally, she is an expert at forming relationships, preparing clients for what is next, and helping them set goals from the start of the relationship.
As a Project Designer at Wingate Hughes, Liza’s reliability and leadership with each project and her team are her cornerstone traits, and she enjoys expanding her breadth of experience in varied categories. She guides and directs her team to continually improve while also being a resource and sharing her expanding knowledge base. Her passion for teaching NCIDQ classes earns her a well-deserved respect in the architecture and design fields. With a specialty in corporate branding, Liza has designed mixed-use retail, corporate interiors, and hospitality spaces for club-level projects in the Southeast region.
Prior to working at Wingate Hughes, Liza was an interior designer for a large international corporate interiors firm in Atlanta, Georgia where she designed for corporate and hospitality projects. In her free time, Liza likes to indulge in her passion for cooking and travel to new cities.

Alejandra Castillo is a Staff Designer at Wingate Hughes and has a strong background in 3D modeling, graphics, and design. Alejandra’s energy and drive make her an asset to projects of all scopes and sizes.
Alejandra is fluent in Spanish and English and can translate at a collegiate level. She combines her love for volunteerism with her passions in architecture and art in several programs, including Habitat for Humanity and serving as an art assistant at the Escuela de Arte Carolina Flores de Carias.

Timothy Banks is a Staff Designer for Wingate Hughes’ design studio. Timothy can visualize the potential of every building while focusing on precise architectural details. As a key designer on our team, his streamlined process establishes building standards, calculations, and documentation for exact as-built drawings and design work. Timothy is also well versed in 3D modeling, post production, and graphic design.

Alex Beranek, a Staff Designer at Wingate Hughes, concentrates on construction and architectural design for innovative commercial interiors. Alex’s superior communication style and hands-on approach help him always put client relationships and needs first. He draws design inspiration from this client feedback, culture, and people. He insists that client connection is the key to superior design work.
Alex’s career includes design work with large-scale fabrication shops across the east coast. This background gives him a unique understanding of the importance of finishes, material selections, and perfectionism. Alex enjoys bringing big ideas and concepts to life and has extensive experience in conceptual design, construction, and the latest software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and Rhino. Additionally, his passions for bringing communities together, urban placemaking, refining neighborhoods, and connecting people in new, unexpecting ways enhances Alex’s architectural eye, style, and appreciation for discovery.
Alex’s volunteerism and international experience includes Building Relationships in Communities (BRIC), a group organized by students to design communities in Philadelphia; the Association of Puerto Ricans on the March (APM) to design a small plaza in a community in East Philadelphia; a design-build summer-long workshop in Athens, Greece; and residential work for an international Austria-based architecture firm.

Brittney Sooksengdao is a Staff Designer at Wingate Hughes. Brittney’s fascination with communities and how they build their character in relation to their physical surroundings is what draws her to architecture and design. Brittney analyzes and adapts to different people and situations with ease and excels in project management. She values the relationships she builds with her clients, and her design inspiration stems from the people she will directly impact, relate to, and serve.
Brittney’s experience varies from master planning, multi family, waterfront, and hospitality design. Her skill set includes managing projects from fee proposal and conceptualization to permit schedule, budget consulting, and landscape architecture. Brittney’s dynamic background begins with impressive internships at Brooklyn Bridge Park as a capital project manager and the Yale University Press where she was assistant to the editor of Art and Architecture.
Prior to Wingate Hughes Brittney was a designer at a national architecture, planning, and interior design firm in San Francisco. Brittney is also fluent in Lao.

Elizabeth Reinckens is a Staff Designer at Wingate Hughes with strong experience in commercial, tech, professional services, spec, hospitality, and government design. In addition to enjoying and excelling at graphic representation, she believes in the importance of the process for each project so the design can reach its highest level of quality and function. Elizabeth especially values the relationships she forms with her clients and has a deep understanding and appreciation of subjective perception. Fernando is a Staff Designer for Wingate Hughes’ Light Box design studio. His passion, creativity, and attention to detail reflect in his work. With over 12 years of diverse residential and commercial project experience in Mexico and the United States, Fernando’s extensive background includes skills in 3-D modeling, rendering, space planning, furniture design, site implementation, project management. Additionally, Fernando excels in the use of specialized software such as Autocad, 3d Studio Max, Archicad, and Corel Draw.
Prior to joining Wingate Hughes, Fernando worked in other architectural firms in the DC area developing design concepts for residential projects, preparing documentation for construction permits, and remodeling schools, playgrounds, and commercial venues. In Mexico, he led the design of several architectural projects and collaborated in three residential and commercial projects that won the Interior Design National Award (AMDI).
In Fernando’s free time, he enjoys cooking Mexican food and experimenting with international cuisine. He loves CrossFit, traveling, and is the founder of a small enterprise of hand-stitched leather goods.

Alexandra Wehr is the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Wingate Hughes, ensuring the Marketing Department runs smoothly and productively under the Marketing Director’s guidance. Ali’s background in theater and psychology complement her role in communications, especially regarding relationship building and business development. Ali has a passion for idea creation and interaction and excels at event planning and internal communications.
Ali assists with all marketing and communications projects, including digital and print collateral, marketing campaign development, and public relations and media targeting. She has a solid understanding of Wingate Hughes’ extensive portfolio of work, practice areas, and capabilities, and she uses this knowledge to clearly communicate Wingate Hughes’ message. Recent projects include coordinating the firm’s end-of-summer party at the Black Cat and co-creating the firm’s Defy Convention branding and art. She recently served as a brand liaison at DC Inno’s DC Fest and Bisnow’s State of the Office Event.
Prior to joining Wingate Hughes, Ali served as an office manager for an architectural and interior design firm specializing in healthcare. Further skills include RFI and RFP preparation and project management assistance. Outside of Wingate Hughes, Ali dedicates her time to the performing arts and can be found on set or at rehearsals for upcoming productions in the DC Metro Area.

Hannah is the Director of Operations of Wingate Hughes, ensuring the office runs smoothly and productively. Hannah’s background in performance art complements her role in human resources and staff operations. She has extensive experience in organization, executive administration, and corporate culture.
To help Wingate Hughes operate at its highest level, Hannah assists with administrative correspondence and scheduling regarding the principals of the company. She also manages documentation of company processes and serves as a liaison between the firm and clients.
Prior to joining Wingate Hughes, Hannah served as Director of Creative Projects for Ajax Union, a boutique digital marketing firm in New York. She focused on managing the personal brand of the company’s CEO. Outside of Wingate Hughes, Hannah is the Artistic Director of Neshamah, a New York City-based dance company.

Gloriana Ferran, Accounting Operations Manager at Wingate Hughes, manages all daily financial and accounting needs for the firm. Her 15-year career spans roles offering audit and financial services for a variety of industries including manufacturing, real estate, and local government counties and municipalities. Gloriana’s background and skills allow her to simultaneously manage multiple projects for the firm ranging from payroll, account receivables and payables, and process refinement to policy management and invoice and collections management.
Gloriana is highly resourceful and makes smart, timely decisions that positively affect the firm’s bottom line. She also serves as a liaison for Wingate Hughes with technical and professional project teams outside of the office. Gloriana is responsible, accurate, and timely. She excels at human resource management, budgeting, cash flow management, and cost control.
Prior to Wingate Hughes, Gloriana was a senior accounting officer at Puerto Rico’s Federal Affairs Administration in Washington, DC. Gloriana is currently studying to become a CPA and can be found at her daughter’s gymnastic classes in her free time.

Before joining Wingate Hughes, Debra served as a marketing assistant for communication contractors and pursued courses in criminal justice.
